Now that Halloween is over..its time to get real over here. I have been talking A LOT about sugar on my Facebook lives. I used to be a SUGAR addict, legit, I always had sugar candies in my purse and the little candy jar at people’s desks was an excuse to gorge on endless amounts of candy. This addiction caused me to always be sick, always feel that sugar high and drop off to a bad mood and the endless amounts of anxiety was enough to make me quit. Once I decided to stop, it was game over.
It took some time don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t the girl who did a sugar detox or took special pills to cleanse it out. I truly made a choice with myself to stop, I knew the harm it was doing to my body and the hyper anxiety I was getting from it was so NOT worth it. I saw what it did to me and I decided I was over feeling like crap all of the time. One thing I teach my clients who have a hard time getting rid of cravings is to see what the craving is, associate it with how it makes them feel and that is usually enough to stop someone from going overboard on sugar or whatever else it is they crave.
I am to the point in my life where I can have a few bites of dessert, enjoy a fro-yo for a cheat night and have bits of sugar here and there and not feel that urge to binge and go crazy. If you watch my snapchat @cvbentleyfit or instagram stories you have seen some of my EPIC yogurt creations because I go ALL out on my cheat, if you are going to go for it, you should just go for it! Anyways, the next day I tend to take it easy with the food, I don’t overdo anything, I keep my food simple and clean and of course enjoy some ACV with lemon drops for a little liver detox and this smoothie of course.
Minty Green Tea Lemonade Recipe
- 1 bottle unsweetened blueberry green tea from Trader Joe’s
- tazo passion fruit tea (brewed and cooled down)
- 1/2 cup organic apple cider vinegar (learn more about my favorite ACV here)
- 5-6 drops of lemon essential oil
- 5-6 liquid stevia drops
- 2 bunches mint leaves
This recipe is SUPER simple and will curb that post dinner need for sweets. If you were as addicted as me to sugar you should skip the stevia, you have to cleanse your palette for at least 3 days but you should go for 21 if you can. Tazo Passion Fruit Tea completely changed the game for me, whenever I crave juice or fruit punch I have this tea. A post dinner craving comes along, this tea saves the day.
I love making fun drinks to sip, they really help me curb cravings and enjoy something sweet without the negative effects of sugars or additional calories.
