As I am starting to pack my things and say my goodbyes, which of course has been bittersweet, I have been thinking a lot about how I am going to make new friends out in Bangkok, Thailand. Making friends has NEVER been difficult for me, as I am VERY outgoing but being in a new country, I may be LOST in translation which leads me to writing this post. I know many of you have a hard time staying on track, eating healthy + nutritious foods or even making the time to get to the gym + get your sweat on because those who surround you are not keen on taking the small amount of free time they have in the day to sweat or make a meal.
So where do you look? Where are you FIT FRIEND?
- Exercise Friends: Exercisefriends.com is a social site where you create a profile with your location, GOALS + interests as far as exercise goes and from there you can search and find someone near you who of course has similar goals to you. Having a workout buddy who has similar goals to your own makes working out more motivating as you are both aiming for the same THING! I really like how the website makes sure to add the fact is it NOT a dating site…(AHEM..nasty guy talking to me on treadmill…)
- Meetup: Meetup.com I LOVE Meetup.com, seriously adore this website because I myself used it when I moved back to LA. You can search for groups that go on hikes, take weekly dance classes, cooking classes or even just join a group to meet other people in your area and find a friend in that group! With so many categories you are bound to find a great group of friends!
- Co-Workers + Neighbors: Your fit friend might be right under your nose, literally your neighbor or co-worker may be in the same boat as you and you would never know it. Ask around and start inviting co-workers to JOIN you in a local yoga class or on a walk during your lunch break. Talk about goals, interests and desires when it comes to your overall health, you may be surprised that gal who has sat next to you for the last five years may be looking for a fit friend too!
Finding a Fit Friend can be difficult if you have friends who are not into the “clean” eating lifestyle or are not quite ready to get the ball rolling at the gym. Just trust that there are millions of people out there who will want to join you on your journey towards your goals, you just have to be willing to seek them out!
Cross your fingers for me, I hope to make some new friends out in Bangkok who like me LOVE to workout, eat healthy and explore the outdoors while looking fashionably FABULOUS 😉

What being a #FITFRIEND means
Being a #FITFRIEND means UPLIFTING, SUPPORTING + MOTIVATING a friend to get FIT with you. It’s about connecting or re-connecting with a friend on ANOTHER level. It’s about having FUN + challenging your friends and yourself to a new level. In the blogging community we share recipes, fun activities, workouts + our tips to be well but sharing these tips, advice + especially adventures with friends outside of the community is a positive way for our world to become a HEALTHIER one.
RESEARCH proves having someone to hold you accountable is one of the biggest tools for SUCCESS in your health + wellness journey! Sharing ideas, workouts + recipes with a friend or even INSPIRING them to get on the HEALTH train is motivating to BOTH of you! Call/Text/Email a friend, an old friend, sister, Mom, cousin, Aunt or just ANYONE + make a FIT DATE! You can meet for a juice, a HIKE, a yoga class, a dance class (possibilities are ENDLESS)…
Time to feel the HEALTH buzz TOGETHER..
As a personal trainer, I have had many clients want to bring along a sister, cousin who’s in town for the weekend, mom or friend and I always say YES because all of a sudden my client WORKS hard, stops complaining + ENJOYS the moment and I see them encouraging their counterpart for the day to do the same. It is such a beautiful thing to watch other women motivate other women!
